The Developing Self-Sufficient Individuals vision council of United Way of Anderson County is partnering with local leaders and churches to expand the availability of free tax preparation services in Anderson County. All sites will open effective February 1, 2011, unless otherwise noted, and close effective April 15, 2011.

United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free income tax assistance to low to moderate income individuals and families. IRS trained and certified volunteers specialize in ensuring residents receive all eligible tax credits and deductions, particularly the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC.) Valuable tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit can put thousands of dollars back into the pockets of individuals and families. Taxpayers can start scheduling appointments by dialing 2‐1‐1.
File Your Taxes for Free at OneStop Workforce Centers
The Department of Labor’s One Stop Career Centers and a public-private partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and a number of tax software companies have made free, online tax filing available to an estimated 70 percent of all taxpayers . OneStop clients can access the free file software from computers in the resource room.
