Success Story – Mr. Cobb

Mr. Cobb attended an SC Works Orientation on September 11, 2013 after speaking with the Lead Career Coach about the WIA program. He had been unemployed since 1999 due to battling cancer, of which he has had a full recovery. Mr. Cobb was certified, enrolled and obtained a Silver certificate after taking the WorkKeys assessment at Tri-County Technical College.

He stated that a goal in his career ahead would be to obtain his CDL truck driving license. Mr. Cobb was approved for the training to begin on January 13, 2014. The training class was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances until April 2014. He decided to wait on the next class to begin because he wanted to attend the training at Tri-County Technical College. After patiently waiting, he began the class on April 21, 2014. He completed the training on May 28, 2014.

Since completion of his CDL training, Mr. Cobb has purchased his own truck for contract deliveries. He travels the southeast area delivering heavy equipment, building supplies and steel to various companies.

“My training was everything I expected and more. The instructors at Tri-County Technical College were phenomenal. I am grateful for the WIA program and the staff for making this opportunity available to me.” – Mr. Cobb
