Planning an In-Person Visit
What to know before you arrive:
All services are still available via telephone and web-based technology.
- We CAN answer basic Unemployment Insurance questions as it relates to filing an initial claim for unemployment insurance, certifying a weekly claim, and conducting a job search.
- We DO NOT have access to a customer’s UI claimant portal.
- We DO NOT issue unemployment insurance payments at this Center.
- We DO NOT have access or the capability to resolve issues on an existing claim.
Health & Safety
- We are routinely disinfecting and cleaning throughout the day.
- Please wear a mask if you plan to visit the Center.
- Thermometer checks will be conducted.
- If possible, please do not bring guests.
- No more than 10 customers will be allowed in at one time.
- If you are not feeling well or are running a fever, please stay home and call for assistance.

How do I apply for benefits?
The Unemployment Insurance process is completed through a self-service online portal that can be conducted on any computer with internet connection.
You must first file a claim for state unemployment benefits by visiting www.dew.sc.gov and clicking on the “MyBenefits Login” located at the top right corner of the home page.
- If you have previously filed for unemployment benefits and remember your credentials, login with your username and password.
- If you have previously filed for unemployment benefits and do not remember your credentials, click “forgot username/password” link.
- If this is your first time filing for unemployment benefits, click the “I am new here. I need to register now” link.
