On my Way to a Better Paying Job and Life for my Two Babies

Hi, my name is Jasmine,

First off, I would definitely like to say it has been a long journey. I never thought I would be able to progress in life. I always thought it would just be long hours and mommy duties. I would always talk about going back to school, but got nowhere. I guess God had a better plan for me because in 2020 some amazing changes were made in my life.

In October I was able to attend Anderson Adult Education. I was nervous and doubtful at first. My stomach turned at the first orientation. I kept asking myself was I really going to come back the next day, I don’t think I can do this. I didn’t think I could do this because I was 5-6 months pregnant and felt terrible every day. After meeting the teachers and my wonderful Eckerd Career Coach, Ms. Rhonda, I had my mind made up and felt supported and motivated. I came to class everyday like I was supposed to. I felt so good just learning new things and completing my goal. It felt so good to be back in school.

Thank you to Eckerd Connects/Palmetto Youth Connections (PYC) for helping me complete my GED. I am so overjoyed to be on my way to a better paying job and life for my 2 baby girls. Thank you for helping me apply for college and get started on the next steps of my education. In a few months, I will be a college student and continue the journey thanks to Eckerd Connects/Palmetto Youth Connections (PYC) and WIOA.
