Curtis Posey

Meet Curtis Posey –

Curtis has twenty years’ experience working at various types of jobs in manufacturing.  His duties included setting up, operating, and tending production machinery.  He decided he wanted a different type of career that offered new opportunities.  He was interested in truck driving as a career, but he didn’t have the means to pay for the training.

Curtis contacted SC Works, and through their Information Session, learned about the employment and training services they offered.  He also learned about the WIOA Program and the possible scholarship opportunities available.  He decided then to pursue training in the Truck Driving program at Greenville Technical College.  His WIOA Career Coach helped him complete all the necessary steps to enroll into the WIOA and complete the steps to secure training funding.

While enrolled in the WIOA program, Curtis improved his WIN Test scores from Bronze to Silver. Shortly after, Curtis completed the Truck Driver training at Greenville Tech and received his CDL. Curtis found a truck driving job at Southern Refrigeration Transport within just a few weeks of getting his CDL.
