Jesus Garcia

Meet Jesus Garcia –

Jesus had been working as a Traffic Control Flagger for King Asphalt.  His duties included maintaining highways, municipal and rural roads, airport runways, and right-of-ways, patching broken or eroded pavement, repairing guard rails, highway markers and snow fences, mowing and clearing brush, and operating necessary equipment.

Jesus had been at King for six months when he decided to pursue certification in the Pre-Highway Construction Inspector/Testing Technician program at Tri-County Tech.  He enjoyed his line of work but wanted to advance within that career field.

Jesus had heard about the WIOA Program and the possible training funding available through them, so he contacted SC Works to learn more.  Through SC Works’ Information Session, he learned about the employment and training services SC Works offers, and applied for the WIOA program.  His WIOA Career Coach helped him complete all the necessary steps to enroll into WIOA and the training of his choice.  Jesus completed the Pre-Highway Construction program and received certifications as a Pre-Highway Construction Inspector/Testing Technician and as an Asphalt Roadway Technician.

Jesus continues to work for King Asphalt, and he received a promotion to be a Quality Road Technician and a raise!

CONGRATULATIONS JESUS

Because Jesus came through SCWorks WIOA, and an approved WIOA Training Provider, Tri-County Technical College, he can say, “I’m the next one!” Congratulations, Jesus, on being the next one to receive a promotion, the next one with a Pre-Highway Construction Certification and an Asphalt Roadway Technician certification, and the next one to achieve your dreams!
